If a magnet is attracted to a metal object, what can you say about the pole of the magnet and the pole of the object?

Space surrounding magnet is called the magnetic field. In this field we can encounter magnetic force. Magnet attraction occurs when poles are unlike and is caused by magnetic force. It means that poles should have opposite values.

A magnet attracts a metal object because the poles interact with each other. Opposite poles attract, meaning if the magnet is north, the induced pole in the metal object is south. This interaction creates a magnetic attraction, facilitated by the magnet's magnetic field.
