Why did the colonists call the acts "intolerable"?

Because they thought the proclamations and things the king was making were ridiculous or intolerable. So since they were making a act about what the king did they didn't like it would make sense to call the act the Intolerable acts because thy could tolerate the king anymore.

The colonists labeled the Coercive Acts and the Quebec Act as 'Intolerable Acts' because they saw them as an excessive punishment infringing on their rights, which united the colonies and spurred on the First Continental Congress. ;

The colonists called the acts "Intolerable" because they believed these punitive measures stripped them of their rights and were extreme responses to their protests. The Intolerable Acts included the closing of Boston Harbor and restrictions on self-government in Massachusetts. These acts united the colonies in opposition to the British government.
