You have to divide 4 by 8 which = .5 and then u put the whole # before the decimal which will equal 4.5 , therefore knowing that 5 divided by 8 =0.625 does not help u write the decimal for 4 4/8 but the decimal for 4 4/8 is 4.5

To convert 4 8 4 to decimal, first convert 8 4 to 0.5 . Then add this to the whole number 4, giving 4.5 . The knowledge of 8 5 = 0.625 strengthens the understanding of decimal conversion but isn't directly needed here.
