When rounding, look at the number one place to the right of the place you are rounding to. If that number is <5, then you keep the place you are rounding to the same and fill in with 0's to the right. If the number is ≥5, then increase the place by one and fill in with 0's to the right. 109865 To the nearest 100: 109 8 65 --> 6 is ≥5, so rounded it is: 109900 To the nearest 1000: 10 9 865 --> 8 is ≥5, so rounded it is: 110000*

The 9 had to be rounded to a 10, so a one carries over one place to the left. To the nearest 10: 1098 6 5 --> 5 is ≥5, so rounded it is: 109870 To the nearest 10000: 1 0 9865 --> 9 is ≥5, so rounded it is: 110000

Hope this helps! :)

The number of bottles, 109,865, rounds to 109,870 when rounding to the nearest 10, to 109,900 when rounding to the nearest 100, and to 110,000 when rounding to the nearest 1,000 or 10,000.
