It's the passing of traits/characteristics from the parent(s) to the offspring(kids). This is how offspring cells become predisposed to the genes/traits of the parent cells .

Heredity is the process by which traits are passed from parents to their offspring through genetic information in DNA. It explains how physical and behavioral traits are inherited and the role of both genetics and environment in shaping those traits. Gregor Mendel's work in the 19th century laid the foundation for modern genetics and our understanding of heredity.
