The stones at Stonehenge weigh between 25 to 50 tons for the large sarsen stones and about 2 to 4 tons for the smaller bluestones. The sarsen stones were quarried locally, while the bluestones came from Wales. Stonehenge is believed to have been constructed between 3000 BCE and 2000 BCE and served possible religious or astronomical purposes.
