14 4 / 5 + 1 1 / 10 = 15 + 4 / 5 + 1 / 10 = 15 + 8 / 10 + 1 / 10 = 15 + 9 / 10 = 159 / 10;
But, 31 1/2 = ( 31 * 2 + 1 ) / 2 = 63 / 2 = 315 / 10;315 / 10 - 159 / 10 = 156 / 10 = 15 6 / 10 = 15 3 / 5 space is left.

After parking both cars, which together measure 15.9 feet, there is 15 3/5 feet of space left in the 31 1/2 feet long parking space. We calculated this by first converting the lengths of the cars and the parking space to improper fractions, adding the car lengths, and then subtracting that total from the parking space length. This shows how much space remains after parking the cars.
