The hundreds place and the hundred thousands place are both important positions in the place value system but represent different values and are located at different distances from the decimal point. The hundreds place is the third digit to the left of the decimal and signifies hundreds, while the hundred thousands place is the sixth digit and signifies hundred thousands. Their similarities lie in being part of the place value system, while their differences lie in their value and position within a number.
