Two-fifths of the instruments in the marching band are brass, one-third are percussion, and the rest are woodwinds. Two-fifths of the brass instruments are tubas. If there are 240 instruments in the band, how many are tubas?

As we are dealing only with the tubas which are part of the brass section we can ignore the percussion and woodwind for this question.
2/5 of 240 = 2/5 x 240 = 96 brass instruments
2/5 of 96 = 2/5 x 96 = 38.4 tuba players
I suspect that the question may be wrong!

There are approximately 38 tubas in the marching band based on the calculations from the total number of brass instruments. This is derived from the total number of 240 instruments and the proportions given in the problem. Keep in mind that rounding may be necessary since instruments cannot be counted in fractions.
