Daniel Shays rebelled against the government due to economic hardships and high taxes imposed on farmers after the Revolutionary War. He led Shays' Rebellion to protest these injustices, which eventually highlighted the need for a stronger federal government. This rebellion contributed to the drafting of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
