I would see the one nearby first because my eyes would react quicker to the one closer to me than the one further away from me.

You will see the nearby event first because light takes less time to reach you from the closer event compared to the further one. This effect occurs due to the finite speed of light. Relativity also plays a role, as the perception of simultaneity can differ based on an observer's frame of reference.
