Hieroglyphics is an ancient Egyptian writing system composed of symbols and pictures used to represent objects, ideas, and sounds, emerging around 3100 BCE. It was primarily used by specialized scribes for various purposes, including communication and record-keeping, and evolved into simplified forms over time. The system illustrates the complexity of ancient Egyptian culture and its reliance on written language for governance, trade, and religion.
