Factors that distinguish one biome from another are the temperatures, precipitation, etc.

Biomes are differentiated by factors like climate, geography, and altitude, with each biome hosting unique plant and animal communities adapted to its specific conditions.
Factors such as climate, geography, latitude, humidity, and elevation are key in distinguishing one biome from another. The climate, involving both the amount of rainfall and average temperature, significantly influences the plant and animal life that can thrive within a biome. Terrestrial biomes, for instance, are often categorized by specific temperature ranges and precipitation levels which result in varying plant and animal adaptations.
Aquatic biomes are similarly distinguished by abiotic factors such as salinity, sunlight penetration, and temperature. The interaction between abiotic aspects, like soil quality and climate, and biotic components, such as vegetation and the wildlife it supports, culminates in an ecosystem that is characteristic of a given biome.
As an example, biomes with dry climates worldwide have plants that have adapted to aridity which in turn supports specific animal species that are adapted to those conditions. This leads to each biome having a unique collection of communities that have evolved special adaptations to their respective environments; be it the high moisture and dense vegetation of tropical rainforests or the cold temperatures and coniferous forests of the taiga biome.

Biomes are distinguished by temperature, precipitation, geography, vegetation, and soil types. The eight primary terrestrial biomes include tropical rainforests, savannas, deserts, chaparrals, temperate grasslands, temperate forests, taiga, and Arctic tundra. Understanding these factors helps explain the ecological diversity of our planet.
