Do you agree with Plato's vision of the ideal state in "The Republic"?

I do not because it is his dream and it would not be the best in a society today, and would have definitely fallen in the ancient world. Did you notice that philosophers, such as himself, were at the top of the society? It would be hard to have a government like that because it is easier to have a democracy so people are less likely to rebel and are encouraged to make their own decisions. In plato's version, there were kings and philosophers. Good question, though. Thanks for the opportunity to answer a fun question. :)

Plato's vision of the ideal state in The Republic hinges on the concept of philosopher-kings who govern with wisdom and virtue, ensuring each individual fulfills their societal role for harmony. However, this model faces criticism for potentially sacrificing individual freedom and promoting authoritarian rule. Modern perspectives often favor democratic systems that allow for personal choice and collective governance.
