The most responsible event for Canada's eventual independence from Great Britain is A. World War I . This war spurred a greater sense of national identity and autonomy in Canada, leading to legislative independence with the Statute of Westminster in 1931. Although Canada had some autonomy before this, World War I was crucial in paving the way for full independence.
