Work is defined in physics as the product of force and distance in the direction of the force, expressed by the formula W = F ยท d. The angle between the force and motion also plays a role, as it determines how much of the force contributes to the work done. When the force and motion are in the same direction, work is maximized; if they are perpendicular, no work is done.
