Why do you think more immigrants have settled in coastal states than in landlocked states?

I would think that because ships usually dock at coastal states. Immigrants get off of the ships so they would be in the coastal states.

More immigrants have settled in coastal states primarily due to access to major ports, established communities, better economic opportunities, and urbanization trends. These factors made coastal areas more appealing for new arrivals seeking support and jobs. As a result, cities along the coast have become cultural and economic hubs for immigrant populations.
