After William's death the doomsday book was made. It was made because he was in a riot and burn't at a stake so the author had realised to make a doomsday book for his death. There are only 2 copies of this book. IN England and America ;)

Domesday survey
The Domesday survey and Domesday Book have generally been seen as the culmination of the Norman Conquest, and show the results of a great investigation, commissioned by William the Conqueror, of the lands over which he now ruled. ;

The Domesday Book, created in 1086 under William the Conqueror's orders, is a comprehensive survey of landholdings in England that served to assess taxes and governance. It documented detailed information about landowners, their estates, and resources, illustrating the socio-economic landscape of 11th-century England. This book has been instrumental for historians studying the feudal system and land ownership of that period.
