Is moss a decomposer?

Asked by paytonneitzel

Yes. Moss IS a decompose because it breaks down dead plants and turns them into nutrients. It does not harm other plants while it goes through this process

Moss is not a decomposer; it mainly acts as a producer in ecosystems. It supports soil stability and indirectly helps nutrient recycling when it decomposes, but it does not directly break down organic matter. Instead, mosses provide habitats and help with oxygen production through photosynthesis.
