Why do you think parasitism exists, despite one of the organisms being harmed by the relationship?

Because although one organism is harmed, the other benefits. So the organism that benefits won't stop the action that is harming the other. Hope that makes sense!

An explanation of why parasitism exists despite one organism being harmed in the relationship.
Parasitism is a symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits at the expense of harming another organism. A parasite feeds off a host, weakening it by siphoning nutrients needed for the host's survival. However, parasites typically do not kill their hosts quickly as it would impede their reproductive cycle to spread to other hosts.

Parasitism exists because parasites have evolved to exploit their hosts without killing them quickly, ensuring their own reproductive success. This relationship helps parasites thrive in challenging environments and plays a vital role in maintaining ecosystem balance. The adaptation and manipulation of hosts are key factors in the persistence of parasitism.
