I'm a bit confused about way to write this equation down, so I will solve this both ways, and you will chose whitch you had in mind ;)
3 v + 9 = 8 v + 9 = 8 ∗ 3 v = 24 − 9 v = 15
or:
v + 3 9 = 8 v + 3 = 8 v = 8 − 3 v = 5

The solution to the equation 3 v + 9 = 8 is v = 15 . We isolated the variable by multiplying by 3 and then subtracting 9. This confirms that when substituted back, both sides of the equation match.
