Explain why the presence of large amounts of organic matter alone does not result in fertile soil.

Large amounts of organic matter improve soil but do not ensure fertility if nutrients, pH, and microbial activity are not optimal. Fertile soil requires a balance of various components. Just organic matter alone is insufficient for promoting plant growth. ;
