A Zionist is a person who is in favor of the existence of a sovereign state (that means a country) that is a homeland for Jews. It's anyone of any religion or political affiliation who believes that the Jewish people have a right to a land of their own, centered around the ancient Jewish capital in 'Zion' ... one of the ancient names of 'Jerusalem'.

A Zionist is someone who supports the establishment and maintenance of a Jewish homeland, primarily in historic Palestine. The movement began in the late 19th century under Theodor Herzl and led to the founding of Israel in 1948, amidst complexities involving relationships with the Arab population. Zionism has various interpretations and continues to influence Jewish identity and politics today.
