Answer (2)

( x + 9 ) ( x + 3 ) = x 2 + 3 x + 9 x + 27 = x 2 + 12 x + 27 ( y − 5 ) ( y 2 − 2 y + 6 ) = y 3 − 2 y 2 + 6 y − 5 y 2 + 10 y − 30 = = y 3 − 7 y 2 + 16 y − 30

We expanded the expression ( x + 9 ) ( x + 3 ) to get x 2 + 12 x + 27 and the expression ( y − 5 ) ( y 2 − 2 y + 6 ) to get y 3 − 7 y 2 + 16 y − 30 . These expansions were done using the distributive property. Each term was multiplied and combined appropriately.
