Can someone explain to me how to use "squared"?

I understand that when I do 2 + 2, it equals 4. However, when I do 3 + 3 and get 6, my brother tells me that's not squared.

Can you help me understand what "squared" means?

Yes. You've come to the right place. I can help.
To "square" a number means to MULTIPLY it by itself . . . NOT add it to itself.
'2' is the ONLY number that gives the same result both ways.
The square of 3 is 3 times 3 = 9 .
The square of 6 is (6 times 6) = 36.

'Squared' means to multiply a number by itself, which is shown using an exponent of 2. For example, 3 2 = 3 × 3 = 9 . This operation is different from simply adding numbers together, such as 3 + 3 = 6 .
