When resistors are connected in series, does the position of the ammeter make any difference?

You didn't say what you plan to do with the ammeter, but that's ok. Even if you insert it into the series circuit, it doesn't matter where, because the current is the same everywhere in a series circuit.

In a series circuit, the position of the ammeter does not affect the current reading, as current remains constant throughout. The ammeter can be placed anywhere in the series without changing the current it measures. This is due to the conservation of charge principle.
