How do you add fractions with improper fractions?

Answer (3)

You add them the same way you do with proper fractions. Make sure they have common denominators and add the numerators.
Example:
2 3 + 3 4
2 ∗ 3 3 ∗ 3 + 3 ∗ 2 4 ∗ 2
6 9 + 6 8
6 9 + 8
6 17

The same way you do with proper ones . . . put them over a common denominator, and then add the new numerators.

To add improper fractions, find a common denominator, convert both fractions, and then add the numerators while keeping the common denominator. Finally, simplify the result if necessary. This method ensures accuracy in adding fractions of any type.
