A beetle has been walking down a sidewalk. He started at 3:15 in the afternoon, and by 3:20 he had made it 4 meters. What is the beetle's speed in m/s?

From:
3.15--------------4 metres in 300 seconds--------------->3.20
The beetle covered a distance of 4 metres in the space of 5 minutes, which is 5 60 seconds. 5 60 seconds is in fact: 300 seconds.
So the beetle was moving at a very slow speed of (1/75) metres per second.

Distance covered = s = 4 meters Time taken = t = 5 minutes = 4 X 60 = 240 seconds
Speed = s / t = 4 / 240 *
*** = 0.01667 m/s Answer **

The beetle's speed is calculated to be approximately 0.0133 m/s, as it covers 4 meters in 300 seconds. This calculation is based on the formula for speed, which is distance divided by time. The conversion of the walking time from minutes to seconds was necessary for this calculation.
